What is the measuring unit?
The AGUSTAV Alin measuring unit is a memory keepsake treasuring the moments when our little ones came into this world.
Alin is made by hand from solid wood, comes with an optional brass cap marking the birth length, engraved with the child’s name, weight, date and time of birth.
Alin makes for a beautiful home decor piece and comes equipped with a keyhole in the back for easy hanging.
Alin is the creation of Ágústa Magnúsdóttir and Gústav Jóhannsson at AGUSTAV.
What does Alin mean?
In ancient Icelandic the word Alin was used for diverse measurement lengths, mostly ranging from 48cm to 57,8cm. The most common Alin measurement used was the length from the tip on ones finger to the elbow.
Is Alin sustainable?
Yes, Alin is highly sustainable. Each piece is made with a passion for traditional craftsmanship and is a part of AGUSTAV’s leftover series, utilizing leftover wood cuttings in the production of environmentally friendly home and lifestyle products.
